Oh I believe in yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Suddenly, there&#8217;re not half the files there used to be.<br \/>\nNow&#8217;s a milestone hanging over me &#8211; The system crashed so suddenly.<br \/>\nI pushed something wrong, what it&#8217;s been I couldn&#8217;t say.<br \/>\nNow all my data&#8217;s gone and I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay.<br \/>\nYesterday, the need for backups seemed so far away.<br \/>\nI thought my data allways here to stay &#8211; &#8222;kill this, goodbye.&#8220;<br \/>\nSingin&#8216; this&#8217;ll be the day that I die&#8230;<br \/>\nThis&#8217;ll be the day that I die<\/p>\n<p>Did you write the new games shell<br \/>\nAnd do you have faith in the manual?<br \/>\nIf b:dennie tells you so&#8230;<br \/>\nWell, do you believe in UNIX C<br \/>\nCan hacking save you memory<br \/>\nAnd can you tell me why vi&#8217;s so slow<br \/>\nWell, I know that you&#8217;re in love with C<br \/>\n&#8218;Cause I saw your code on UNIX B<br \/>\nYou just kicked off your shoes<br \/>\nMan, you cleaned up every kludge!<br \/>\nI was a lonely young computer geek<br \/>\nWith a program due &#8218;most every week<br \/>\nBut I guess that I was meant to freak<br \/>\nThe Day That UNIX Died<br \/>\nAnd I was singin:<\/p>\n<p><em>(chorus)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Well, for ten weeks we&#8217;ve been in this class<br \/>\nThe professor really is an ass.<br \/>\nBut that&#8217;s not how it used to be&#8230;<br \/>\nWhen Ira Pohl taught in CIS 12<br \/>\nAnd user limits could go to hell<br \/>\nAnd there was still space on UNIX C.<br \/>\nAnd while the board was looking &#8218;round<br \/>\nThe Chancellor brought the budget down<br \/>\nThe classes were adjourned<br \/>\nEvaluations weren&#8217;t returned<br \/>\nAnd while Huffman read a book by Pohl<br \/>\nThe CIS board made some prof&#8217;s heads roll<br \/>\nAnd we wrote programs that weren&#8217;t whole<br \/>\nThe Day That UNIX Died<br \/>\nAnd we were singin&#8217;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>(chorus)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Helter skelter in the summer swelter<br \/>\nI went in the lab to find some shelter<br \/>\nNinety degrees and risin&#8216;
